Maybe I should start working on Christmas cookies and Thanksgiving tablescapes tomorrow?   It seems like all the holidays sneak up on me then I am scrambling to get my act together.

What about you...do you have big plans for the 4th?  We don't have anything planned at all, I am sure we will go somewhere and see fireworks...or not...whatever.

Elephant Cookies

I had a request for elephant cookies for a baby shower...so...I made elephant cookies.

The customer wanted grey elephants with a pink heart above the trunk.  After talking a bit, we decided to go with a round cookies and the elephant on that.

Loving how they turned out!

Elephant Cookies

Confession time...I have never made elephant cookies before!  More confession time...I have four elephant cookie cutters!  I made elephant cookies and did not use any of those four cutters!

Elephant Cookies

I was able to mimic the elephant shape from the shower invitations, and free-handed the heart.  So simple, yet so cute!

Elephant Cookies

It has been so long since I had a baby, or went to a baby shower, purchased anything for a baby, that I had no idea that elephants were a "thing" and so popular...I guess I should get out more, huh?

Any way....I was happy with them...and the customer was happy with them...so it was a happy day!

Party in Your PJ's #61

Welcome to Party in Your PJs!

Happy Tuesday...is it Friday yet?  I have been crazy busy lately, we moved into our new house in November, which means a lot of the outside/warm weather stuff could not be done...so now...we are doing it...and it is hot...and I don't do hot...sweating is all kinds of gross...I would much rather be inside, in the AC, decorating cookies or crafting or watching baseball on TV!

After taking a break from cookies, I am back to decorating regularly now, having cookies do do almost every week.  While it is so much fun, and rewarding, my elbow is hurting me this week.  Is there such a thing as decorator's elbow?  OUCH!  It does not hurt unless I am holding a piping bag, or typing...Mr. Cookie Puzzle is so helpful and said "Well, don't do that then"  Men....CLUELESS!

DIY Cork Board

I have wanted a cork board in my cookie room forever, but never could find one that I liked...so, like any good wannabe crafter, I decided to make one!

The first thing I did was gather my supplies!

I raided my mom's house and found a framed picture, that while it was UGLY, I loved the size and the frame.  I found some cork foam board at Michael's (using a coupon) that worked wonderfully!

DIY Cork Board

I used chalk paint on the frame and soft touch varnish for the finish on the frame. The color is Treasure from American Decor and the varnish is by them also!

DIY Cork Board
I new I wanted to incorporate puzzles some how in the board, and my friend Melissa from Simply Sweet Stencils, had a puzzle stencil that work perfect for this project!  She sent me both the 2 inch and the 2.5 inch puzzle stencils...I chose to use the 2 inch on this project, deeming it forever a craft stencil, and saved the 2.5 inch one for cookies.  I grabbed some colorful craft paints from my stash, and just randomly stenciled on puzzle pieces.  Random patterns are hard for me...any one else like that?

DIY Cork Board
Once I put it together and hung it in my cookie/craft room, I was in love!  It was the perfect size, the perfect color and makes me smile!

DIY Cork Board

I hung it above my work table and am working on turning that wall into a gallery wall of baking stuff, I will share it with you when I am done!

Until then.....

Hugs

Stuff He Brought Home Vol.2

Happy Friday!

Welcome to Vol.2 of Stuff He Brought Home!

This is a series I do each week here on the blog, showing you, well, STUFF HE BROUGHT HOME!
He, is Mr. Cookie Puzzle...and he brings home A LOT of stuff...some wicked cool...some odd...some totally unique.

Today, I am sharing another item that I actually LIKE!

Glass Butter Churn

This is a glass butter churn!

Glass Butter Churn

The only markings I can find on it is this 6 QT, which I assume means 6 quarts...
now that is a lot of butter!

Glass Butter Churn

Like the coffee grinder from last week, this butter churn features a
beautiful wood handle and crank.

Glass Butter Churn

It has beautiful metal work, nothing fancy, but functional and sturdy.
The handle actually moves and cranking it spins the paddles within the jar.

Glass Butter Churn

There is one small crack in one bottom corner, and I can not get the lid off.
Like I said, the crank will turn, and the paddle rotates, but I can not
get the lid off, and I scared to damage it by "forcing" it in any way,
I cleaned it up as best as I could, but I will not be making any
butter in this beauty!

So...that is that...What He Brought Home....A Glass Butter Churn!

If you have any information about this piece and want to share, I would love to hear from you.

Until next time....

Rockabilly Cookies

Mr. Cookie Puzzle's cousin is in a Rockabilly Band called PopSkull Rebels!  While I have not have the pleasure of seeing them live, I have enjoyed listening to them online.

His cousin recently celebrated a birthday, and his dad, Mr. Cookie Puzzle's Uncle, asked me to make him some cookies....so I did!

Guitar Cookies

Acoustic Guitars

PopSkull Rebel Cookies

Their logo is sooo cool...but way above my skill level, so I had edible images
printed at a local bakery.  This is my first time using edible images, and I can now
tell you that I am a big fan of them.  I don't think I will use them all the time
but they are a nice option for complicated designs.

Rockabilly Cookies

I also did a couple of plaque cookies with "Happy Birthday" on them.  I am so happy
with how the entire set turned out...and I got word that the birthday dude enjoyed them too!

Rockabilly Cookies

While I only did three styles of cookies, I can tell you that the guitar, which I have never
done before, has pretty difficult.  I love how they came out, but they are not a cookie
that I would want to do all the time.

Guitar Cookies

Until next time

Hugs!

Stuff He Brought Home Vol.1

So...Happy Friday!

Today, I want to launch a New Series here at The Cookie Puzzle.  As you can guess, it is called "Stuff He Brought Home", and it will be simple posts, mostly pictures of, well, Stuff He Brought Home.  Who is He?  Glad you asked, HE is Mr. Cookie Puzzle, my husband, my life partner, my baby daddy (can I still say that now that my "baby" is 20?), my main squeeze, you get the idea.

Mr. Cookie Puzzle is a shopper, a shopper of vintage/antique stuff....if it is old, he finds it and brings it home....and he does that  A LOT!  My house, the one that we just built is filling up fast...because of him.  Some of the stuff, I love, I think are neat...other stuff...not so much.  BUT, I have learned to pick my battles...and just let it be.

So...I thought why not share them with all of you...so...I am...

So...without further ago...I present.....

For the inaugural post, I will share with you something that I actually like.!

Glass Coffee Grinder - The Cookie Puzzle

This is an old, wall mounted glass coffee grinder, and I love it!  It is missing the catcher cup at the bottom, but I still love it. I have no idea who makes it, how old it is, or how much it is worth, but it is a keeper.

Glass Coffee Grinder - The Cookie Puzzle

The glass has "Crystal" printed on it, again, not sure if it is the manufacture, brand, advertisement or what.

Glass Coffee Grinder - The Cookie Puzzle

The grinder part is cast iron, with a beautiful patina and detailing that I love, and the aged wood on the handle melts my heart!

Glass Coffee Grinder - The Cookie Puzzle

While it does show some age, the glass is not cracked at all, and the lid is easy removable, so I filled
it with coffee beans...because it is a coffee grinder...duh!

Glass Coffee Grinder - The Cookie Puzzle

So...that is that...What He Brought Home....A Glass Wall Mounted Coffee Grinder!

If you have any information about this piece and want to share, I would love to hear from you.

Until next time....
