Mini Heart Cookies in a Cute Bucket

I made Valentine Cookies this weekend...I think these are the first cookies I have made since I made Christmas cookies.  Oh how I miss making cookies every weekend.  When we started building our house, I took a break from cookies..we moved in a year ago...and I have not built up my customer base to where it used to be.  Part of me is sad about that...part of me is totally OK, not having the pressure of having to bake and decorate cookies all weekend and after getting home from work each night.  Women...are we ever happy?

Anyway...I decided to keep things simple this year...single color mini hearts...what is not to love about mini cookies?

I found these cute little buckets at The Dollar Tree...and two dozen mini cookies fit in there perfectly!

Well...that is that...short sweet little post...for simple sweet little cookies...

Until next time...

Berry Heart Cookies

Valentine's Day is quickly upon us...are you ready?

I spent the weekend baking and decorating cookies, it feels good to be back to cookies!

These cookies were totally Collin's idea...I was skeptical when he told me his idea...but I love how they turned out!

Berry Heart Cookies

Cute, huh?  Heart shaped cookies decorated to look like Chocolate Covered Strawberries...perfect for Valentine's Day!

Berry Heart Cookies

I only made a few of these last weekend, and finally got pictures taken this weekend...life kinda got in the way.

Berry Heart Cookies

After seeing them come to life, I think I will be making more.  We have a Fundraiser Bake Sale at work on Thursday, and I think these would be a hit.  So...time to get that oven on, and bake more cookies!

Berry Heart Cookies

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day?  How are you spending it?  Mr. Cookie Puzzle and I have been married for 20 years...we will probably be treating it like any other Saturday night...eating Pizza and watching Shark Tank...we are kinda obsessed with that show...yep...we are that married old couple!

Valentine Marshmallow Pops

Marshmallow Pops for Valentine's Day

Time is ticking..Valentine's Day is in just a few days.  I wanted to post one last quick and easy item that you can whip to for your sweetie.  You can run to the Walmarts, or Dollar Tree on your lunch hour, while the kiddos are at school, or on the way to an important meeting and get all you need to make this quick and simple treat.

Here is what you need

Valentine Peeps, or large Marshmallows
Melting chocolate, Almond Bark, Candy Melts or Candiquick
Paper Straws or sucker sticks
Valentine Sprinkles
glass container, vase or jar
conversation hearts (I used about 1.5 bags, and ate the rest...don't judge)
block of foam, or something to stick the dipped marshmallow in while they dry.

OK...got all the stuff?  Here is what you do.

Melt your chocolate according to package direction.  I dip the end of the straw or stick into the chocolate then carefully into the marshmallow.  I then put it into the foam to set.  By the time I got them all on sticks, they were set.  Carefully dip the marshmallow into the chocolate, using a spoon to help you get it completely covered.  GENTLY tap and wiggle the coated marshmallow to remove as much chocolate as you can, don't worry about perfection, that is what the sprinkles are for.  Set it into the foam and then immediately sprinkle with sprinkles.  Finish all the marshmallows and let them dry, which happens pretty quickly.  Now all you have to do is arrange them in the vase, and your are ready to do.  You could also use Valentine M&M's if conversation hearts are not your thing.  If I am being honest, I would use M&M's, as it was hard to arrange the Marshmallow pops in the conversation heart...those boogers are HARD!

But...that is what I had...and this was a quick and simple last minute Valentine's day idea...so...I used what had.

So there you go..in three days, I have posted three simple and easy Valentine's Day treats to make and give to your special someone.

Day One

Cherry Chocolate Cookies

Day Two
Valentine's Day Chocolate cookies

And from last week

Mini Valentine Cookies in a jar

I love you to pieces cookies

OK..that is all I got...Valentine's Day is now officially over on The Cookie Puzzle for 2014!  Now..what next? What should I work on next?  What do you want to see here...crafts, recipes, mindless rambles about Reality TV?  Give me some suggestions.....I am all ears!

Chocolate Sandwich Cookies for Valentine's Day

Yesterday, I shared a Chocolate Cherry Crackle Cookie, today I want to share with you a chocolate sandwich cookie.  They are almost like a homemade Oreo cookie...but kinda better in my opinion.

Valentine's Day is coming quickly, and these are a perfect easy little treat to make for your special Valentine.
Do you go all out for Valentine's Day?  Do you expect flowers, sent to your office, because getting flowers delivered to you at work, is so much better.  Having all your co-workers ooo and ahh, that is the most rewarding part, right?  Me, I am a "don't spend money on flowers" type of gal.  Sure I like it when my husband drops by my office and brings me daisies, which are my favorite, but I would rather have something I can hold on to and will last longer then a few day.  A new stand mixer...that is love to me.  A new pair of cowboy boot...oh yes, love you honey.  Chocolate...yes please, but make it dark...and if it has coconut with it, I will love you for ever.

I made these cookies by using the chocolate version of my favorite sugar cookie recipe, you can find it Here. While I normally roll my cookies to 3/8 inch, since these were sandwich cookies, I rolled to 1/4 inch, and reduced the baking time to 13-15 minutes. I used a tiny heart cutter to make a cut out of half of the cookies, and sprinkled the opening with Valentine sprinkles once I assembled the cookies

For the filling, well, NOTHING beats the delicious buttercream by Simply Sweets by Honeybee. I did leave out the almond, and just added more vanilla, but that is just a personal preference of mine.

For a cookie that is so cute, these were really fast to make. You can whip them up tonight, and have them ready for giving on Valentines day.  My recipe makes a HUGE batch, like 4.5-5 dozen sandwich cookies, so you can divide them up to several people.  Your special love Valentine, teachers, children, bank teller, doctor, boss...whoever you want to make feel special that special day.

I hope you have enjoyed these last few quick and easy
Valentine desserts....I will be back tomorrow with one last
super fast Valentine's Day dessert.

I love you to Pieces cookies with free printables

So....Valentine's day is just around the corner.

Do you make a big deal out of it?

Me...not so much.

I pretty much just treat it like another
day.

That was until I got into cookies,
and that all changed.

If you make decorated cookies, and have a blog
any holiday has to be a big deal.

And you have to start early,
me, I have not mastered that yet.

One thing that keeps me motivated

is the  Monthly
Inspiration Challenge, hosted my
This month's theme is
LOVE.

One thing I have said to Collin,
since he was a baby, even
before he was diagnosed
with Autism, was
"I love you to Pieces"
So....I made some mini,

I love you to Pieces cookies.

Then I put them in a jar....
how cute are these?

Mini hearts and puzzle pieces, in a
jar...that is love right there!

I also decided that I wanted tag
for the jars, so I turned to
Melanie of Adorability Designs,
and she created these CUTE tags.

I love you to pieces printable tag

You can print them yourself if you want, I am sure they will
make your loved ones happy.

The jars are cute...but I thought
they would look cute in bags too...

I love you to pieces mini cookies in a bag

and I was right!

I love you to pieces mini cookies

Jars of Cookies or Bags of Cookies..

either way,
they are a perfect way
of saying

I LOVE YOU TO PIECES!

Make sure you head over to Simply Sweets by Honeybee
to see all the LOVE projects...and if you have made some
please link up too.

Talk Nerdy to Me - A Group Project

Happy Valentine's Day Cookie Lovers!

I was asked to be a part of a
group project, coordinated by the super talented

I love doing group projects....they get my creative juices flowing,

but if I am being totally honest,

they scare the heck out of me!

I get super excited when I get the email.

Then...I look at the list of people who are also invited.

Then I totally freak out...knowing in my heart,
that when the project is posted,my cookies will be the
lamest cookies of the bunch.

Then I totally start stalking the other participates on Instagram,
trying to get a sneak peak of what they are doing.

Then I ask everyone I come into contact with what I should do.

Then I search Google for like 18 million hours.

Then I cry.
Then I eat a jar of Nutella.
Then I pull my act together.
And do what I always do.

I ask COLLIN!

He is my go to
"Idea Guy"

The theme of this project was
"NERD/GEEK VALENTINE COOKIES"

So.....I made a "Nerd Cookie"

Now...let's look at the amzing cookies that the others did!

WOW!  Great Job

3. Cristin - Cristin's Cookies
4. Jill - Jill FCS
Thank you Lene for inviting me to join this project...It was a lot of fun.
To my fellow participates, thank you allowing me to be part of
such an awesome group, I look forward to more
projects in the future....I have my Nutella ready!
Until next time

much anymore, maybe it is time I give it a
try again soon.

They are far from perfect...but I loved doing them

Have a great weekend...
