Party in Your PJs #30

Welcome to Party in Your PJs

Well...today is a sad day at Party in Your PJs.  Today is the last party that Melissa from Simply Sweets by Honeybee will be a co-host here.  Melissa has decided that she need to focus on building her blog, and opening an Etsy shop.  I am so sad to see her leave, but as her best friend, I am so happy to see her spread her wings and fly.  We started this party early this year, we took a leap of faith together and we have had fun, but it is time for her to move on to bigger and better things.  Melissa managed this party for us, she made sure the link up was set up each week, pinned, shared, and promoted this party, and we will miss her dearly.  Bree and I will be continuing without her, and we will both miss her so much.  Starting next week, I will be handleing the behind the scenes stuff and please bare with me as I try to fill the big shoes that Melissa leaves.

Please take a moment to head to Melissa's blog and wish her well, and thank her for being such a wonderful party host...she did an amazing job...and I know we will all miss her!

Horseshoe Wreath

There is an old saying that every house needs a horseshoe in it.  Who am I to challenge old sayings?

Horseshoe Wreath

The saying goes that if you hang a horseshoe in your house pointing up, your luck will never run out.
After working on this house for a year, we were all to happy to hang this.

The frame is actually an old bathroom medicine cabinet, I picked up somewhere, not sure where.  I removed the "cabinet" part, and managed to break the mirror in the process.  Now, please don't tell me that I will now have 7 years bad luck...because, well, I have a horseshoe, and everyone knows that horseshoes totally trump broken mirrors, right?  Please say right?

I painted the frame with Chalk paint, FolkArt, Home Decor Chalk, in the color or Cascade...it is a pretty muted mossy green blue color.  I did not seal it, or distress it..because I liked the muted rough look...well..who am I kidding..I am just lazy..LOL

I then threaded some twine through the top holes on each side of the horseshoe.  This was not a fun process...I tried wrapping the ends with tape and pushing them through the "holes" but those holes are little buggers!  They are square in shape...and round twine was not wanting to go through it.  FINALLY, I wrapped a long piece of tape around the twine and kind tapered it..the started it through the hole and used a pair of needle nosed pliers, to grab it...and gently pulled.  That worked..but it took many times..so if you try this..be patient.

Horseshoe Wreath

Mr. Cookie Puzzle then hung it for me on the door to the half bath...cause we all need a little luck in the bathroom, right...LOL!

I loved how it turned out...and it cost me nothing as I had all the stuff already.

Horseshoe Wreath

Here is what it looks like from a distance!  As you can see, we are all moved into the house, and mostly unpacked...hopefully now that we have made the move, I will have time to take pictures and show you around, and maybe even get some baking done too!

Until next time...Hugs!

Bathroom Cabinet Makeover

I am amazed at what a little paint can to to totally transform something ugly and destine for the trash, into a piece of beauty.

Bathroom Cabinet Makeover

Mr. Cookie Puzzle's uncle gave us this little bathroom cabinet.  I thought I took pictures of it before I started it's makeover, but I can not find them, hello, my life is in chaos right now #nevermovingagain

It was a simple wood cabinet, glass door, painted white, but the white had aged to a nasty looking yellow/eww color.

The first thing I did was bust out the glass, and inserted some decorative punched metal.

Bathroom Cabinet Makeover

I then painted the outside with Chalk paint, Treasure, by American Decor.  I am a little obsessed with this color, I have used it a lot.  The inside is painted with Yellow Crochet, by Folk Art.  I had gotten this color, for another project, but did not like the green tint it had.  But, for this project, it worked great!

Bathroom Cabinet Makeover

Mr. Cookie Puzzle hung it in the Half Bathroom, and I filled it with some little treasures, I got from my grandmother when she passed.  I have a few more, for the top shelf, but can not seem to locate them, #nevermovingagain!

It looks great in the half bath, especially with the vanity that I made out of my grandmothers, wash stand.  You can see it here.

Until next time....have a blessed day!

Pieces of My Puzzle 11-9-14

Happy Sunday Blog Friend!  The weather is turning colder, leaves are turning beautiful colors, Thanksgiving will be here soon...and Christmas is now knocking on our door (at least that is what retailers want us to believe), and I am finally moving into my new home.

We started this project just over a year ago, and Friday will be our first night in our new house!  I am exhausted and overwhelmed.  I am excited and nervous.  I am happy and sad at the same time.  We have lived in our current house for 17 years, this is the only home that Collin knows.  But soon, it will belong to someone else, they will call it home, and we will start our life in our new home.  If you have followed me here, you know this has been a true adventure for us.  Mr. Cookie Puzzle and I did most of the work ourselves, so when I say WE built a new house, I mean WE BUILT A NEW HOUSE.  Every nail, we nailed, every tile, we laid.  We did this, and we are proud....tired, exhausted and ready for it to be over, but proud.

I wish I could tell you that I have been reading some wonderful novel, but I have not had time to read.  I have not had time to bake in months, so no wonderful recipes to share either.  I have been doing many DIY and Craft projects, but have not managed to take step by step pictures of many of them...and if I have taken pictures, I don't have the time or energy to edit pictures...so...that is that!

I have tried my best to keep up with TV watching, because it helps me unwind after a hard days work...just keeping it real!

American Horror Story! WOW...just WOW!  I started watching this show in the third season, and I am totally hooked.  I will confess, I was a little worried about Freak Show, but, I am totally hooked.  I love the "dark history" this season brings.  This is probably, my favorite show right now.  I can not wait to see how this season unfolds.

Scandal.  What the heck?  I hate to spoil it, but this weeks was crazy.  Looks like Olivia is finally getting Jake and Fitz to work together to take down Command.   Now, call me cynical, but something tells me this will not end well.  I started watching Scandal during season two, so I missed the back story of the Gladiators past.  This week I heard Abby's story for the first time, and my heart broke for her.  I know this is just a fictional show, but sadly, Abby's story is one that many live, everyday, for years.

I hate to cut this post short...but...well...life...it is kinda busy round here...catch ya later peeps!

Party in Your PJs #28

Welcome to Party in Your PJs

Yep....it is that time again...time for another Party in Your PJs.  I am a little ashamed that my last post was last weeks party...what can I say...life happens...for me, life is moving, working, moving, working and oh yeah...moving...In two weeks time, we will be in our new home...I am excited, and exhausted...so..that is that.

So...have fun at the party...I will be watching the game!
