Babies, Babies, Babies

So...I have been decorating cookies for almost a year and a half....wanna know how many orders I have had for Baby Shower Cookies?   Go ahead.....guess!

Did you say 12?   NOPE!

6?  NOPE!

2!   Ding Ding Ding Ding!  Two.....in a year and a half, I have done Baby Shower Cookies twice....isn't that sad?

I am not sure why....I know people are having babies....I just think the people hosting the baby showers just never think of cookies...Baby Showers are usually all about cake, cupcakes and petit fours.

So...when I got the chance to do Baby Shower Cookies....I was super excited!

My first set was for a little boy.  The theme was "Little All-Star" and the colors were blue and brown.

Wanna see them?  Great...because I too a million pictures!

The second set that I did was for a little Girl!  How great that I got one of each!

The Theme was "Little Cowgirl" and the colors were Pink and Brown....with a little Bling!

Again, I too several pictures.....ready!

So, there you go...two sets of Baby Shower Cookies...I can not wait to be able to do some more

In love with the CUPCAKE COOKIE....show me yours!

I am in LOVE the a cupcake shaped cookies!  I mean...they are totally perfect....so cute...and they are be used for virtually every occasion..birthdays...holidays....celebrations...you name it....the cupcake cookie can be turned into a piece of cookie art.

I have make a lot of cupcake cookies since started decorating cookies....but BEFORE I fell in love with cookies...I pretty much was slightly obsessed with cupcakes.

I will not tell you how many cupcake wrappers I have in my collection...because...well...it is a little embarrassing....and sprinkles...well....sorry...not going there either.

I made simple cupcakes...vanilla or chocolate frosting...applied with a simple swirl...topped with sprinkles...nothing fancy...and NEVER colored frosting...ewww.....colored mouths are just gross....maybe it is just me...but when I am with friends and family...I don't want to see people with blue or red tongues...ewwww.

So....here are a couple pics of cupcakes I have done in the past...again...nothing fancy...or even amazing..just some yummy, cute cupcakes

So anywho...where was I ....oh yes...THE CUPCAKE COOKIE!

So...wanna see some of the cupcake cookies I have made over the last year?

Sure you do!

But first....I want to show you my cupcake cookie cutter collection...I have a "few"....but I am always on the look out for new ones!

Playing with a new cookie cutter

I did not grow up canning...I don't remember my mom ever doing it, or my grandma, but I remember my grandma had a root cellar...but for the life of me, I can not remember what was in there.  I remember it was on the side of her house, it was buried under a small hill, and the top was covered with "hen and chicks"..it that the name of those cute little flowers...or am I just imaging  that...hmmmm I will have to ask my sister...she will know...but I do remember that my cousins and I just KNEW there was a monster living under there...I mean really...it was UNDER GROUND...it was dark...I don't think it had a light...and the door was really heavy...it would be the perfect place for a monster to live...don't you think...I mean, if I was  monster...I would choose a home like that.

Anyhoo...sided tracked...sorry :)

So....I did not grow up canning...but later in life..I kinda became obsessed with making jams and jelly..I would make jars and jars each summer...I would come home from work, and there would be boxes and baskets of fruit that people had left for me...with a note saying..."Just give me a jar of the finished jelly!"  I pretty much stuck with fruit jellies..strawberry, peach, apple and blackberry jelly...as well as tons of apple butter...and then my Aunt Bonnie shared her super secret zucchini relish, and I made tons of that!

SOOO....if you make a lot of jelly....you need lots of jars...so I started collecting jars...I am not sure if you have shopped for jars...but they are EXPENSIVE if you buy them knew. But the good thing about jars....is that if you take care of them...they last FOREVER.  So I put the word out...and people started buying me jars and yard sales, auctions, estate sales..you can find used jars at pennies on the dollar.

My favorite jars are the old blue mason jars!  They are sooo pretty, and blue is my favorite color!  Right now...I would say I have a couple hundred blue mason jars...I have all different sizes, some with the zinc lids and some with the glass lids.  Now...these jars are just for decoration...I don't can in them..I use them to store stuff in...I have a jars of old buttons...old marbles...sanding sugar, I have used them for vases....I just love them.

Ok, Kim...GET TO THE POINT!

Sorry  I just love mason jars....so when I saw the Mason Jar cutters at Copper Gifts ...I just KNEW I had to have one...but I could not stop and one...I bought two...and they have a third one...and I will buying that one too..I have to...I will simple die without it...I am sure of it.

So, I bought the two cutters...and had fun playing this weekend playing with them...for my first run..I went simple...simple, plain, pure mason jars....and I love the way they turned out!

I am still playing with how to get the tops to look just right...I did a couple of techniques...and used a couple of products...but I think I need to play some more.

So here you go...my Mason Jar cookies.....sorry....I took a million pictures...I like them all....so sit back and enjoy!

Happy Birthday Jacob! (and playing with my favorite cookie cutter)

A dear friend of mine recently asked me to make some cookies for her nephew who was turning three.  When she told me the theme..I was super excited....MICKEY MOUSE!

I have never done Mickey Mouse cookies, but was excited to do them.

Due to the fact that these cookies had to be done pretty quickly, because they had to be shipped, I decided on a rather simple design...one that has been done a million times...but, for me they were a first.

I also wanted to add a little something special, so I was able to find the Disney font and put his name as well as the number 3 on them.

I was happy with how they turned out...and more importantly, my friend and her nephew like them too.

So here you go...my Mickey Mouse Cookies for Jacob!

Happy Birthday 3rd Birthday Jacob!

I had some extra dough...so I busted out my favorite cookie cutters (cupcake) and played a little!

I added mouse ears to my cupcakes...and made some cute Mickey Mouse Cupcake Cookies...say that three times fast!
